Poetry, Deanna Whitlow
So today,
I want only good-smelling things.
Coffee brewed over a cinnamon stick,
Sandalwood perfume on a days-old turtleneck,
My mother's rosewater tea,
My father's pine candles,
The sea,
the sea,
the sea,
and sleep.
Deanna Whitlow is the founder and editor-in-chief of Same Faces Collective. She typically writes fiction that explores identity, isolation, and nature. Deanna worked on Allium: A Journal of Poetry and Prose as a production assistant and a nonfiction reader. Her work can be found in Hair Trigger, Mulberry Literary, and Affinity Magazine.
