"I have always believed that anyone can dance or has this impulse to move. For example, people at weddings or concerts dance and move to the music on impulse. There is a shared community. However in formal dance class settings, dancers are asked to perform shapes and certain structures within a technical framework. “On the Side” represents finding this balance between both technique and social dance. This work strives to find freedom in both groove and technique whether you are dancing by yourself or with others."
