Performance, Audrey Im
Audrey Im takes a poem she wrote and spins it into lyrics; it discusses the state of lingering in the liminal space, feeling stuck in place, and not knowing whether to jump.
Lyrics:
i’ll show you my house, caught between the cliffside and coastline
where the dust and heights keep me spreading out my quiet mind
could you sand me down
could you write my doubt
our names raw in other conversations
they like my intentions
that’s all i’ve got right now
how do you trust where you’re pulled to?
the mirage of a fool is a child, too
moonlight rises on the backseat
and i’m trying to leave the biting behind me
how do you want without wandering away?
undressed all of my kindness on a sunday
morning as the opposite of poetry
i stall and i’m falling too easily
could you sand me down
could you write my doubt
can i fool myself
get the change thrown out
could i tell you here
play my lies around
afraid of the gesture now
the ocean cradles me out
